Thursday 10th December 2009 (18.30 for 19.00), Queens Building, De Montfort University
Joint meeting with Institute of Engineering & Technology
Holograms are amazing and mysterious objects which it is hard to define, let alone explain. The idea of a three dimensional image, apparently floating in space, would have been nothing short of sci-fi a mere seventy-five years ago, and yet nowadays most people in developed countries carry at least one hologram around in their wallets, on the front of their credit or debit cards. So what are these fantastic, mystical images? How do they work, and how are they created? When were they invented?
Professor Richardson will demonstrate how holography works and invites audience participation in live demonstrations. |
